MTV Europe Strips Wizkid of His Best African Act Award Following Outcry From Tanzanians That Ali Kiba Deserved Is the True Winner

With regards to Sugar Daily's post this week on Tanzanians blasting MTV for "wrongfully" giving Wizkid the Best African Act award at the recently concluded Europe Music awards; it looks like the music network listened to Tanzanians and took their outcry into consideration. This is not the first time Wizkid and Ali Kiba have battled each other publicly. Their beef has been eminent since the pair got into a fight at Chris Brown's concert in Kenya two months ago (recap).

MTV Europe Music Awards has finally stripped off Nigeria’s Wizkid of the Best African Act award and given it to Ali Kiba after days of public outcry from Tanzanians.

The award that was subject to a public vote became a subject of discussion after votes showed Ali Kiba was leading but the organisers gave Wizkid the trophy during the ceremony in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Kajiandae hit maker on Monday said he was awaiting communication from the award organisers and on Wednesday, MTV Base East Africa made the announcement.

Ali Kiba has managed to keep the prestigious award previously held by Diamond Platinumz in 2015 home.

I’ve just gotten the confirmation that the award is coming back to Tanzania, but I can’t talk much about it, I’m still waiting to receive it,” said the bongo maestro during a Facebook live chat.

He added that the award organisers got in touch with his management and admitted the mistake clarifying that he was the winner as voted by the public.

Wizkid has since deleted all Instagram posts regarding the award that is given alongside that of Best Worldwide Act.
